01Bybit in Albania, briefly
Many Albanians know Bybit as a platform for derivatives and active trading. On the Albanian App Store it has 702 ratings, more than any exchange except Binance. This Bybit review for Albania answers the headline question, “is Bybit available in Albania?”, and a second one that often gets skipped: who actually serves you, and with what protection.
The short answer: yes, Bybit accepts Albanian residents, but through its global platform. The well-known MiCA licence belongs to Bybit EU GmbH in Austria and covers EEA customers. Your contract is with the global entity, with no AMF licence and no MiCA protection. With 0.10% spot fees and the widest product range, Bybit is third in our ranking.

02Is Bybit available in Albania?
Yes. Bybit’s service agreement lists 14 restricted jurisdictions: the US, Canada, mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Uzbekistan, onshore Dubai/UAE, Iran, Syria, Sudan, Cuba, North Korea and the occupied regions of Ukraine. Albania is not on it, according to a May 2026 CoinPerps summary quoting section 11.3 of the agreement. Check the current version when you register.
So you can sign up and verify with an Albanian ID card or passport. Don’t confuse access with licensing, though: Bybit is not licensed by the AMF. According to the May 2026 impact assessment, the AMF and AKSHI have received no applications under Law No. 66/2020, so that is true of every exchange. Details on is crypto legal in Albania.
03Bybit EU vs Bybit global: who serves you
This is the heart of the review. Bybit EU GmbH was authorised under MiCA by Austria’s Financial Market Authority (FMA) on 28 May 2025, according to ESMA’s register. That licence passports across the 30 countries of the European Economic Area. Albania is not an EU member and not in the EEA, so Albanian residents are not Bybit EU customers.
Bybit EU GmbH
- For EEA residents
- MiCA licence from Austria’s FMA (28 May 2025)
- MiCA rules on customer protection and complaints
- Products offered under MiCA rules
Bybit global
- For Albanian residents
- No AMF licence and no MiCA
- No Albanian or EU authority to complain to
- Full product range, derivatives included
In practice this cuts both ways. As a global-platform customer you get access to more products than an EU customer. On the other hand, you don’t have the protection MiCA gives a European customer, and no Albanian authority supervises the platform. Bybit EU’s licence is a positive signal about the group, not a guarantee for you.
04The big hack and security
The biggest event in Bybit’s history came in February 2025. On or about 21 February, roughly $1.5 billion in virtual assets, mostly ETH, was stolen, one of the largest thefts in crypto history. On 26 February the FBI attributed the attack to North Korea, in an operation it calls “TraderTraitor”. According to reports, Bybit covered the losses and customers were made whole.

The lesson? Even large exchanges can be hit, and the ability to make customers whole depends on the company’s finances, not on any insurance scheme. For you, as a customer without MiCA or AMF protection, the rule is simple: keep on the exchange only what you need for trading and the rest in a wallet of your own. Switch on app-based 2FA, the anti-phishing code and a withdrawal address whitelist.
05Bybit fees
On spot, Bybit charges 0.10% maker and 0.10% taker at the base tier. Here is how the taker fee, the one you pay when you buy instantly on the order book, compares with the other platforms in our ranking.
Low spot fees are only part of the picture. Most activity on Bybit is in derivatives: leveraged futures and perpetual contracts. These products can wipe out a balance within minutes, including through automatic liquidation. If you are a beginner, stick to spot. We don’t give advice on what to buy or when, and no platform can guarantee a profit.
06Deposits, P2P and the Bybit Card
Card. Visa and Mastercard purchases on Bybit go through payment partners and cost more than spot. If your card is in lek, your bank also adds currency conversion. Compare the final amount you receive, not just the fee on screen.
SEPA. Albania has been in SEPA since October 2025, but exchanges usually offer SEPA deposits through their European entities. Whether Bybit’s global platform accepts SEPA from an Albanian IBAN has not been confirmed. Check the deposit options in the app. More on buying crypto by bank transfer.
Lek P2P. Bybit P2P accepts a lek search, but on 2 October 2026 its public API showed no USDT/ALL ads at all, for buying or selling. If lek is your main criterion, look at OKX and our guide to P2P in Albania.

Bybit Card. “Bybit card Albania” is a common search. The card is reported as available in the EEA, Switzerland, the UK, Australia, Argentina, Brazil and Kazakhstan’s AIFC financial centre. Albania has not been confirmed. Don’t take it for granted; check in the app or see our comparison of crypto cards for Albania.

Strengths
- Albania is not restricted
- Second-largest exchange user base in Albania: 4.92★, 702 ratings
- 0.10% / 0.10% spot
- Group holds MiCA through Bybit EU in Austria
- Widest product range in our ranking
Weaknesses
- Albanian residents are served by the global entity, with no MiCA and no AMF licence
- The roughly $1.5 billion hack in February 2025
- No lek P2P ads on 2 Oct 2026
- Bybit Card unconfirmed for Albania
- Focus on leveraged derivatives, high risk for beginners
Bybit is a strong, widely used platform from Albania, with low fees and plenty of products. We place it behind CEX.IO and Kraken because Albanian residents don’t benefit from the group’s MiCA licence, there is no lek P2P and its security record includes one of the largest hacks on record.
08Who Bybit suits
Bybit suits experienced users who want many coins and products in one app: someone in Vlorë who already trades spot and wants a platform with good liquidity, or a user who fully understands the risk of derivatives. For them, the 0.10% fee and the well-rated app are real advantages.

For a first purchase, or for someone who just wants to buy and hold bitcoin, Bybit offers more than you need. And if you pick it because it “has a European licence”, remember that the licence is not yours.
09Bybit alternatives
For simple card purchases, CEX.IO is our pick. For a strong security culture and proof of reserves, Kraken, second in the ranking. For the deepest liquidity and the most-used app in Albania, Binance. And for lek P2P, OKX.
